Hi, I'm Shelby.
Welcome to my world.
I’m a Pacific Northwest oil painter drawn to the strange places where nature, folklore, and imagination collide. My work explores mythic creatures, eerie forests, and abstract atmospheres that blur the boundaries of the real and the magical.
Original oil paintings are created for galleries and collectors, while high quality prints allow my art to travel far beyond the studio and into the homes of collectors around the globe.

My Painting Process
I paint like it’s the 1500s, minus the plague. I mix my own oil paints and build my canvas frames by hand, the same way artists did long before craft stores and mass production existed. It might be labor-intensive but it’s worth making sure every piece is built to last centuries, not just seasons.

My Background
I’ve been a full-time oil painter since 2019, when I withdrew my law school application to pursue art. Before that, I studied Organizational Psychology at Pitzer College, which greatly informed both my artistic practice and my outlook on the world. To me, art isn’t just something pretty to look at, it’s a fundamental conduit for resistance and connection.

Chill Seeker Podcast
Chill Seeker is my podcast, where I dive into conspiracies, strange encounters, and the weirder corners of internet culture; the same creepy, mysterious stuff that ends up on my canvases. Recording episodes is basically where I go to collect inspiration. If you like the things I paint, Chill Seeker will make you feel right at home.

My work is represented by Mortal Machine Gallery in New Orleans, Louisiana, alongside an ongoing history of pop-up exhibitions at major art weeks and conferences in cities including Miami, New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Austin. I continue to seek out new spaces for my work to live and December 2026 I will be showing at Scope for Art Basel, Miami. I welcome inquiries from galleries, curators, and collectors interested in exhibition or representation opportunities.

Press & Media
My work and story have been featured across a handful of publications and outlets. I love talking about my process and inspiration almost as much as I love doing it all myself, start to finish. If you’re a writer, editor, or podcast host interested in covering my work, I’d love to connect.
